Contracts & handover

Reviewing an agency contract: term, ownership and clean handover

1 min read

A fair management agreement protects both sides through clarity. Before signing any contract, verify how contract length, commission definitions, account ownership, and end-of-term handover procedures are written down.

1. Account ownership and access control

Your creator account, primary email address, payout bank connection, and personal likeness rights should remain yours at all times. A management team needs delegated operational access to perform its work, not ownership of your identity or primary login.

Ensure the agreement specifies which newly created social funnel accounts belong to you and how their credentials are managed.

2. Contract term, notice period and handover protocol

Check the initial term, auto-renewal windows, and notice requirements. Professional agreements also include a clear offboarding protocol: how quickly connected tools and team sessions are removed at the end of the contract and how final invoices are settled.

Have any ambiguous clauses regarding post-termination commissions or buyout fees reviewed independently before signing.

  • Primary account and payout ownership retained by creator
  • Written definition of gross vs. net commission basis
  • Reasonable initial term and clear notice window
  • No hidden post-termination commission traps
  • Documented offboarding checklist for revoking access
